...OK, I'm not talking about the Connaught Square Squirrel Hunt.....

I'm talking about hunting and countryside folk in London.

Let me set the scene. I'm based in Cheshire, and hunt (ir)regularly with the Cheshires. I'm obsessed with hunting, the countryside and rural issues. Whilst not from a farming family, I have friends that farm, friends with land, and friends who probably visit London once a decade.

And herein lies the problem. I spend a few days a week in London for work purposes, and whilst I get on fine with my work-mates, I have no interest in spending my evenings in town at a pub with them discussing football and the tube. I'd much rather be enjoying a meal or drink with hunting and rural dwellers who might find themselves in the capital for similar reasons, or even live there whilst their hearts are in the country.

I want to spend time with people who spend Saturdays hunting and Sunday nursing a bad back and hangover. I want to eat with people with more dog hairs on their suit than buttons. I want to laugh with people who know what it's like to drink too much at the meet and fall off at the first hedge.

Is that you? I don't care if you're black, white, rich, poor, eighteen, eighty, male, female or whatever. If you love the countryside, enjoy hunting (not necessarily on a horse), and spend time in London - please post here.

Perhaps we could start up a modern day London Hunt Club? A drinking and dining club for exiled country mice? A group of people with similar interests who happen to spend some time in a major city to pay the bills?

What do you think? People stand up!! A revolution's coming....!!!! :)

I think the Kensington and Chelsea foxhounds has a certain ring to it??
The Connaught Squirrel brigade are fun, but all frightfully "town-mouse" playing being "country-mouse" - you will know what I mean!!

Where abouts in London is everyone??

NB Im only about during weekdays, as play with real horses at weekends!!xx

I live in Ealing and have two horses not too far away. I'm a bit different since I am London born and bred. However I have recently started taking my mare out to the wilds of surrey to hunt.......and I LOVE it! I'm totally hooked. Would def be up for a bit of wine and horsey chat! I work in Hammersmith so not too far from Fulham!!!

Woohoo - this has generated more interest than I thought it might! Typically of me, I hadn't given a thought to how we might arrange things if people where interested, so I need to get my thinking hat on.....

When I'm in London, I'm based at Canary Wharf, so somewhere central like Green Park might be the sensible option for everyone. We probably all need some information from each other like names, numbers, emails, location, how often we're in town etc....

I'm delighted that I'm not the only one who feels a bit like a fish out of water when I'm in the city! Leave it with me and I'll come up with a plan. Unless others who are more organised beat me to it...!

Okay, here's an idea.... If everyone who's interested can PM me their email address I'll collate them together and send out a joint email to get the info that we'll need to make this work. Does that sound sensible? Cripes, I almost sounded organised there....!

I'm thinking that we could set up a shared diary somewhere that shows when each 'member' (I've no idea of what yet!) is in London, and if we all have each others contact details, we can send a quick email or text saying 'do you fancy a drink after work?'.

It's the best I can come up with at the moment, so please feel free to throw any other ideas into the pot! In the meantime, if you're interested, send me your email address in a PM.

Typically, I'm not going to be in town over the next couple of weeks, but we might as well try and get things off the ground so that I can be frustrated at being up here for once!

OK, I've never been hunting and I've never owned a horse (these two facts may be slightly connected)! But... I do live in London (not these nice areas you're all mentioning) and I spend my days dreaming of an escape to the country! Is it OK if I come and play too!

Sorry everyone - been having a hectic few days.... I've only had a few PMs from people who've expressed an interest. Can everyone else send me their email addresses - I have a plan!

Good to see another Canary Wharfer amongst us - I thought it was just the Fulham crew!

I haven't forgotten about this - I'm just male, disorganised and really busy at the moment! However, I have just sent an email to all those who have PM'd their address to me, so let me know if you don't get it for any reason. It contains the details of my finely-honed plan..... OK, it's got a link in it anyway...!

Anyone who would like to be included, but who hasn't sent me their email address - send me a PM!

Happy Hunting Everyone.......
