Hello! I have recently bought a new hunter after 5 years away from the sport & I've also relocated to North Devon (Lee, near Ilfracombe) during this time so I'll be joining a pack. I have had a little look on the internet for local packs & have contacted one directly, the Dulverton West Foxhounds who have been very friendly & I hear good things about them.

I have always hunted with one pack (at a time) since I was 6 (I'm 34 now) but would there be any problem with hunting with other packs, I have to work odd hours/days so if another pack was going out a particular day & I could make it, I would want to go. Is this frowned upon?
I am looking at going fairly regularly (1-2 times per week).

Also, are there any particular packs where there's a bit more jumping involved?

I recently moved from North Devon and hunted with numerous packs. My family had always hunted with the Devon & Somerset Staghounds (Exmoor) regularly. They are a great pack and because of their location, you do get a lot of visitors hunting with them. The only downside is there is little jumping.

Tiverton Staghounds (mid Devon) & Torrington Farmers are the other two packs I'd recommend as I've hunted with both quite a few times over the years. Again, not known for the jumping but there is some.

If you do want a proper jumping days hunting, you'll have to head to Taunton Vale who are very well known for it - but they're not for the faint hearted!

I've heard all about the blackthorn hedges!! I hunted in the Fens some years ago with huge ditches, a different type of jumping but still squeaky bum time! I think I might possibly work up to hunting with the Taunton Vale. Thank you for the replies.
I definitely want to hunt with the D&S Staghounds at some point.
