Afternoon Hunting Forum, I dont think I have ever posted in here.

I have been reading some of the hunting reports on here and would really like some advice as to how I could get into it/where would be the best place to start looking?!

I am from Halifax and dont have transport (but this could be arranged) so would need something relatively local, preferably hacking distance. Also I would be going alone as there is no one I know that would even consider joining me, which is a shame.

Does anyone live near Halifax or have any recommendations or just some general advice on how to get into it?

Many thanks!

You are in luck as Newcomers' Week is still running in many hunts. Hunts welcome newbies all year round, but this is the week in the year when a special effort is made to being in fresh followers.

Your first port of call should probably be this website:

www.mfha.co.uk

Click on the 'find a pack' link and then select Yorkshire. This will then generate a list of hunts. I would think you probably want to be looking at Grove & Rufford or Badsworth & Bramham Moor for coverage of country in West Yorkshire.

Having identified a pack that is nearby simply contact the relevant secretary:

http://www.bailyshuntingdirectory.com/

They will be able to give advice as to whether they are organising a formal newcomers event, what to wear, a good meet for newbies etc etc.

Good luck and don't forget to let us know how you get on.
