On the 1st i'm going on a pre-season ride with the North East Cheshire Drag Hunt. I'm riding a 12.3hh pony. Yes i will look like a numpty on him considering i am 5ft 6 and my knees go over the saddle. Anyway, he is piebald and very cob like. He's like a mini traditional, full feathers and mane. On the hunt site it says manes should be pulled and plaited or hogged. Hogging him is not an option, and he would look daft plaited up. Now should i just smarten his mane up and leave it loose or what?
All help appreciated, i only have until saturday!

I used to hunt mine as a traditional and he was awesome!! Re the mane, can you do a running plait along the crest? Looks neat and tidy but stops having to plait or pull?

Well never been out with this hunt before, but alot of people from my old yard are going so i doubt it's very posh!
Think i might do a running plait then :] Should i put a plait in his forelock aswel? or just leave it?

Hi.

I hunted my youngster last year as a traditional. I platted his tail up like a polo pony in very wet weather and put an arab plait in his mane. Here's a link to my hunting pics. His mane is unplaited in them because he shakes his head after a while so I tend to take it out when that becomes a problem! He was fab and loved every minute but he isn't a heavy cob type and is an athletic mover.

You might have to copy and paste the link as I don't know how to put it on so that you can just click on it! Sorry!
