Wondered if some kind people would awnser some questions for me please? I'm sorry if there really dumb questions

I went and watched my first hunt meet and head off yesterday, was first time I've seen a hunt in real life. Anyway I'd quiet like to go my self but..

1. Do you have to jump when out hunting? ( some tell me Yes some tell me No )
2. What would be the best hunt to go on for your first one? ( I'm in Bredhurst Kent )
3. How much is it to go on a days hunt?

Thank you very much

I live near bredhurst. How exciting!
1. No you don't have to jump. There are almost always half a dozen (or more) who go around every jump, there is a way 99% of the time.
2. I have hunted with the West Street Tickham in the past, and found them to be very friendly. The other option is the Ashford Valley, which is also good. The best thing would have been to go out on a newcomers day, but I think they have all finished for the season now. The best thing to do is ring up the hunt secretary and ask them to recommend a good hunt for first timers coming up - some places tend to be slower going than others. They might even pair you up with somebody to help you on the first time or two.
3. Again, ask the hunt secretary as it changes - I haven't been out for a few years so I don't know current prices.
Hope this is useful.
Anymore questions, ask and I will try and help!

I'm not in Bredhurst - I'm live about 10 mins down the road in Walderdslade. But my horse is in Maidstone. Just to be difficult. I did look at moving him to Bredhurst, as I used to hack around Bredhurst woods when I had a horse in Detling and it is lovely hacking, but I couldn't find anywhere suitable.

I’m not far from you either!

I’m go out with the West Street Tickham, that's our local hunt.
If you PM me I can give you the name and number of the Secretary. You don’t have to jump (well maybe just a few logs), but nothing big. It’s £35 on a Wednesday and £45 on a Saturday.

I hack in Bredhurst woods all the time (well when I can get the Fjord to step over those horrid gate things, he only has little legs, bless him). :)

Yeah
I would have liked a hacking buddy!
Aah well.
I was looking around July/August time. Found one in Bredhurst that sounded perfect, but the owner never showed! I phoned her, she answered, I said who I was and she hung up on me. Rung her back (for about half an hour) and she had turned her phone off. I text, phoned and emailed for the next few days but never got a response. Fishy!
I'm awkward in that I need assisted grass livery - and no barbed wire. Couldn't find anywhere in Bredhurt that offered that, so moved to Maidstone.

Don't know what it was called - she never said. The woman was called Hayley, the yard was on Cox street, she had just aquired the yard, and it had a dirt sand school. Thats all I know.

im sure paul would give you a good day at WST personally i think newcomers days are quite hectic a wednesday tends to be the best day as previously said you dont have to jump everything and there is nearly always a way round. and it depends on the hunt as to the price of CAP you would have to speak to the sec.

tally ho have a good day

i'm moving (in 18 days, not that im counting, much!!) to the Sittingbourne area. I have been out with blood and fox hounds but have really lost confidence after a few falls last season and havent been out since March, I'm hoping to go out with the WST at some point, let us know how you get on if you go out with them!! If theres any meets close by me coming up I may go out on foot too, be good to get to know the area and people from it!
