I come from a family that have always enjoyed shooting and I plan to learn myself (sticking to clays in the meantime ;))

However, me and my uncle were talking last week (he is into his shooting in a big way) and said how he finds that people over here that hunt are all fine and dandy to let the people who shoot help support hunting, however when it goes vice versa they are not interested in helping support those that shoot.

Does the same go for the mainland? Or how do the hunters on here feel about shooting?

I have read many articles where anglers have openly distances themselves from hunting; they do this in the selfish and mistaken belief that the antis will not bother with their activities.
I have little doubt that if the boot were on the other foot i.e. that angling or shooting was the focus of the ban that many hunts would distance themselves from those activities and offer little or no support.
This reminds me of an incident where a friend travelled down to London to openly protest against the hunting bill and was walking with the stream of protestors, waving his banner when he happened to see a member of the shoot where he was a beater, this shoot member was on the second floor of a prominent gentleman’s club clearly offering his full support as he waved the protesters on with one hand whilst clutching hold of his malt with the other.

I don't really get the point of the above post.

I occassionally go on a shoot and everyone was against the ban from what I could tell.

Are you saying that most shooters are in favour of the Hunting Act?
