Love it! We have 3 bloodhound packs locally, one goes fast, one goes slow, and one is in this middle; you can have a day to suit whatever your needs and I love the safety of it (I am a wimp!)

In fact I am going for the first time this season on a 4yo that has never hunted, has only jumped a couple of times, and I havent ridden yet - but God I am looking forward to it.

Not sure about that!!! The bloodhounds i have been with was much more scary than normal hunting!! Good fun all the same and it's great to see the hounds. Seems a bit less false than a trail hunt with foxhounds.

Aaaagh, what safety are you on about?
My local bloodhounds go fast, jump big and you need a bloody fit horse to do it. Sarah is right, although I havnt been for a long while.

Well four shires are very safe, before you set off they tell you to make sure don't jump outside the ticker taped area on jumps. It just makes me feel safe! And as for the readyfield - well yea it can be pretty scary but the jumps are all good jumps and I just feel more cared for than with the foxhounds. Plus bloodhounds are usually smaller, I have been to meynell meets with like 100 horses and 800 foot followers, and my horsey got a little wound up, when he tends to be quieter in little hunts.

Cool! I used to go with the Southern shires Bloodhounds in Hants until I moved :( . I loved every minute out with them.
Shame there is nothing in the west country.
Anyone fancy setting up a new pack??? the three Shires? Devon/Dorset/ Somerst? I'd be a member

I take my 4yr old with the Readyfield. It is mental, but at least you know the fences are well prepared, and ready laid, if that makes sense?! It is absolute madness, and so far removed from hunting it is unreal!

Do love it though, and is better for my boy, as he becomes dangerous if mae to stand around for too long....

Great, had some lovely days out with the Readyfield....... Fast and furious, but the fences are well prepared. All standard are welcome......THey do have Optional Jump Days, so if you are not that brave you can still enjoy it, but not have to jump.......

its fun but i dont find it as fun when im out with the foxhounds.... i find them to fast.. and they jump such big jumps... lucky for me i never had any problems jumping the jumps.... and some of the field members were rude to me too.... my friend thought the same.. but i still go out with them when i can... as it is in my aunts village.. and it's always gd to be friendly with the local hunt.. as my aunt puts it.. lol

I go out with the Coakham Bloodhounds and love it. Only go a few times a year as I find it hard to keep horsey fit in the winter. I love the fact that there is always jumping (unless your'e on the Downs) which you're not guaranteed to get with the Foxhound packs.

I love hunting with the Readyfield, always so friendly.
Excellent jumping too, especially at Caunton.
There is always a second field master now for those who don't want to jump (or don't want to jump everything)
Can't wait to get out with them again.
With the Readyfield you don't have to be a member, just turn up and pay on the day - so if its chucking it down or freezing cold you can always stay tucked up in bed!!!
