maybe its cause i'm use to going with readyfeilds, but i didnt think much to it when i went, my friend goes with them quite a bit cause her words 'they dont jump much' and shes not overly confident!

I wouldnt recommend Readyfields for a first time out TBH, SN regularly jump but theres always a few people who dont ever jump and you can tag with them as they find a way round it if theres something you dont fancy jumping. It isnt sneered at at all. The first time I took my new horse I didnt jump a thing. The Cropwell has lots of little stuff to pop apparently (not been to it before but it was recommended to me) so would suit you pagancloughie.

Go on a thursday in Derbyshire, THATS jumping!

The cropwell meet is lovely, there is a bit of jumping if you want to, had a scary experience over a few hedges round there....

If you are going on a monday, its nice for babies! Heidi and Paul the field masters are lovely, and there are generally alot of very helpful people out in the Nottingham country

Pagancloughie- the fences are no bigger than 2'9ish at cropwell, though there is the occasional option to do some hedge hopping instead.... but with it being local country there are alot of non jumpers out aswell. :)

they are also reasonably cheap too, generally its £40 for Mon, £70 for Thurs (although I think thats because Thurs is Derbys, I'm not sure if the Cropwell one is £40 even though its a Thursday????). Compare that with Quorn at almost £100...

Copy this link into your address bar and click on the next couple of that chap in red with the grey, thats one of our meets with the snotts, they love jumping.

Lol!! I have jumped a few like that, I remember queuing up to have a shot at a "monster" hedge on my 14.2hh....... 3 of us actually made it over, and this was next to a perfectly good hedge gap..... though in all honesty, when I used to go, jumpingon mondays was few and far between, and thurs was nothing but, and hairy! But fantastic days. And they are very friendly!

Persaonally everyone has their own thoughts but for first timers and babies its fantastic they start from the kennels on march 12th near lowdham, notts. Its fantastic woodland and if you dont want to jump which i wont there are always ways around the fences anyway at south notts so if anyone tells you different theyre lying to you!!! Again the more experienced the horse and rider then there will be bigger fences but its always been a fab day when i go cause i know the huntsman gary personally so we always have a laugh. As for notts people being friendly pm me if you fancy a friend to go with as i would look forward to meeting other forum users. (Even if we do duck out of the fences!!!) He He x

Walker - that may just be the ticket, quite wary as not a massively confident rider, so need a gradual intro before go with the Readyfield. Thanks for thoughts.

KatB - could you take me round on a lead rein?!?!? Or should I go to Newton first to see what he is like? Never jumped a natural fence in my life before only SJ poles to 3ft 6 inch. I may go and watch a hunt first.

Newton would be a good idea but I dont think they're actually open yet still as ground waterlogged. Danethorpe *might* be open now? I really would just go to the hunt, you dont HAVE to jump anything at all just see how you go. BTW The Cropwell one is def £40, I checked.
