I know this is really probably the wrong place to post this, but a girl on my yard is in to regular hunting.

Now for the question.....surely, people arn't ment to go hunting anymore with the ban that has been passed.
So if anyone on here does please explain to me, why do it anymore??

sorry if i sound like a complete numpty, but i have never been hunting before and not sure if i ever wish to. thanks!!

That's ok :)

If it doesn't lie well with you morally then don't do it.

I guess if people believe hunting has benefits and that it is also fun then it's fine by them.

I'm not sure the legality of it has any bearing on its morality does it?

Hunting has of course changed since the law came into force. People still go hunting but it using the set guidelines, many using a trail. Contact your local hunt to find out how they do things. Alternatively speak to the person on your yard to gain more insight into what goes on before making too many judgements.

No sorry I posted in new lounge by mistake and then put it into here. I don't go on any other forums it took me weeks of lurking to get up the courage and register on here.

come drag hunting
hunting has been banned, but hunts are allowed to hunt a false trail. i.e not a live animal.
often feel that people are not well informed about what happens and often hear the anti side of the argument.
my husband faced an uncertain furture when the ban came in, so with a family we decided to move to a drag pack. that is a pack of hounds that has never hunted a live quarry ( unless you count the guy who lays the trail )
can not force anyone to go, but would recomend it just once, if for nothing else to meet some of the people on the other side of the argument.
hope this helps

I was disgusted by the new drag hunt activity . The hounds ripped the poor little queen to shreds and TOTALLY destroyed his wardrobe !!!!! How he led such a fast chase in those heels I'll never know !!! But he was taken in the end [no pun intended] after his hem snagged on a hedge .Just cruel !    ;)

The ban bans the hunting and killing with dogs.
They can still flush the fox out with the hounds and use guns or a bird of prey to kill it.

tinkerbee is in ireland, the ban does not affect them.
also echo what irishcobs said.
drag hunting is chasing a person laying a trail, not an animal, cue bad jokes to drag queens

We could sit here all day and explain what happens on a hunt etc ... there is really only one way of finding out and thats to go one day :). Even if you're ntot sure if you'agree' with it, just go for the ride and make your decision from there. Personally i agree with it! But then i was born and bred into evey aspect of country life...farms, hunting, horses, dogs and dads a gamekeeper!

Down here some packs hunt with two hounds which is legal, swapping the hounds during the hunt when the hounds either tire or there is a break in the scent.

Alternatively some packs lay a trail often using a scented sock laid by someone on a quad bike.

I would suggest you find out what your local hunt does, go along and then judge for yourself.

we hunt a smelly sock up here in yorkshire.... well - a sock stuffed with aniseed and some slightly off meat.... works really well. trail is laid either the night before or early on the day of the meet.

ditto the last person. find out what your local hunt does, and have a go.

The only drag hunt I have been on we chased a young girl on a horse dressed like a fox! Lots of fun!

ETA, the girl was dressed like a fox, not the horse!!
