I am a complete novice where hunting in concerened and was wanting to take my new mare hopefull event prospect on a few hunts over the winter/autumn to help fittnen her and get her used to the wide open spaces and all the spooky things you come across when out hunting.
I have never been hunting before as my last horse has various problems and it would of killed him, litterally. So I was wondering how would I go about it? I know of out local hunt group of a I have a contact wititn the hunt who am trying to get hold of but is there anything else I need to know?
Would you suggest this for fittening a horse, shes not completly un fit just thought this would help her alot with xc

Contact the hunt secretary and have a chat with them. Usually they are very helpful indeed.

I would NOT however use hunting as a way to get a horse fit. Your horse needs to be fit before it goes hunting or you could do some serious damage.

Most packs are out Autumn hunting at the moment, which is much less strenuous (apart from the early mornings) - so that might be a better option?

Good luck though - I am sure you will enjoy it.

Oh no defintly, we have been doing alot of trot work and hacking long distances and shes still fizzy and wanting to do more lol
I just wanted her to experiance more of an out door xc enviroment but I am hoping shell learn to pace her self when out hunting.
Thank you ill call them on my lunch
