Hi need a little advice. I used to hunt with the Waveney Harriers in suffolk a while ago and having just moved to Manchester would like to join a hunt near me (I live in central manchester). I have found that two hunts near me are the Cheshire and Holcombe, are there any others, people could suggest to me? I would also need to find somewhere that does hirelings for me and my partner. Has anyone had any experience of doing this? My partner is a very accomplished horseman, however I would prefer something a little more level headed to ride.

Any advice greatly received.

Hi Kitjayne, there are several hunts in the Cheshire area; the North East Cheshire Drag, the Cheshire Farmers, Cheshire Forest and the Cheshire. The Holcombe tend to hunt on the north side of Manchester. I can only personally vouch for the North East Cheshire - an ultra-friendly bunch who I'm sure would be happy to help advise on hirelings. I have friends who ride with the other hunts - some of it will depend on geography!

Roger Rimmer is your man I believe. He does hirelings and sells hunters to lots of people around Cheshire. If you ring them about hirelings, no doubt they could suggest some days hunting and give you names and numbers of secretaries to call.

Sorry yes I meant to reply the other day, give Kentonwood a call, Katie (Roger's daughter) looks after the business now I think. I would highly recommend any of their horses will be nice to ride and brave enough to enjoy.
I haven't hunted at all this season yet due to poor health but I was a subscriber with the Holcombe, I have enjoyed days with Vale of Lune, and with Cheshire Forest. Hoping to get out for a day with Pendle Forest before the end of the season too.

I agree Kentonwood's horses were lovely, well turned out. I absolutely loved the horse I rode. Although when we were off he wanted to be at the front. I wouldve taken him home but couldnt afford his price tag.
