I have never seen a hunt out before, nearest i have been was a few days before xmas last year i was at work in a barn on a farm and could here dogs barking eventually decided to look outside and the local hunt was in the yard having a meet before setting off. Was a great experience and would like to go to support a hunt this boxing day, only ive never done this before and dont know how to go about it. Do i phone the hunt to ask where it is held...would they tell me, as they wouldnt know who i am. As for all they know i could be an anti. (which i am not) would love to be brave enough to go out hunting with my mare but im a chicken ....lol

Think High Peak will be your nearest off the top of my head not sure though. Check out the MFHA website to find out who is nearest you it will also have contact details for the seceratary. Boxing Day wil be a public meet so I would think they will be quite happy to say where they are as the 'antis' will know anyway! Just ring a say what you have said here. Have fun!

I thoroughly recommend coming into Bakewell to see high peak on boxing day. A lot of people turn out in support of them and its usually a really nice time.

We head into town in convoy from our yard to see them all :D

Do be warned however, you need to be there and parked early because the police do block off the town to all traffic to let the hunt through.

I seem to remember that they start moving at around midday... (Im sure someone will correct me if Im wrong) - so Id suggest being there for 10:30 - 11am ish.

You can always get some breakfast and have a wander round anyway :D (Remember to bring some bread to feed our ever present duck population!)

I will warn you, Bakewell is usually packed to watch the hunt on Boxing day, but the atmosphere is fabulous and the turnout of horses is great.

Are they the bloodhounds run by Roy Hattersley's girlfriend?
I used to hunt with the High Peak - it was such fun - and stunning country.
Bernard Swain was the master then - it was a long time ago!
