The closest hunt to your area is the Bedale. They are very friendly and welcoming, and if you telephone the secretary they can advise you of hirelings in the area (most probably judi thurloe- see the hirelings thread also in this forum), clothing requirements and cap fees etc.
I know the bilsdale is a little further over and jen_hunt goes with them I think; maybe worth a PM? Lots of info to be found on this forum and on the net in general such as etiquette and behaviour. Most hunts now hold a newcomers day each season, again each hunt's secretary can advise of these days which are perfect for beginners or novices!
I'm in Badsworth & Bramham country so a bit of way for you; but nearly all hunts are welcoming to newcomers - they understand that to keep up interest, revenue and public support they need to welcome the new faces!

Go with an open mind and enjoy it!!:D

If you have horses in Northallerton and Thirsk then you are very close to several hunts...

the Bilsdale and Hurworth are kennelled just outside of Northallerton, and between them cover allt he ground between thirsk, the sutton bank road, and north up the bilsdale valley and the darlington road.

If you wanted a friendly face to look after you then I'd be more than happy to look after you if you came with the Bilsdale or Hurworth. The Bedale are probably faster, covering bigger country than we do, but most hunts are friendly if appraoched with the right attitude! :)

PM me if you'd like more info or any help!
