Hiya,
I am looking to take my youngster hunting next season. It will be a first for both of us and was just wondering where the best place was to go in Southeast london/ Essex area?
I have also been told i should take him cubbing(?) before going to a real hunt as they are normally calmer
Does anybody havce any more info about this or where to go?
:)

Whereabouts are you? I'm Secretary of the Essex Farmers and Union, we hunt from Chelmsford east to the sea really....the other side of Chelmsford is the Essex, and north from chelmsford to Colchester would be the East Essex....

We're nice and friendly if you fancy coming with us :-)

Thankyou everybody, will look into these.
Tractor- Im in Epping, Think colchester is about an hour away form us so not too bad :) Thanks.

Also can anybody tell me when the actual hunting season starts!? Can you tell im new to all of this!

EFUH is probably your nearest then. :-)

We usually start at the end of August, early mornings and evenings twice a week. Does depend on whether the harvest is finished though, I guess that's the same for most hunts.

Hunting "proper" starts in November, then the meets move to mid-morning.

Your best idea might be to looke at the MFHA website, there's descriptions of each pack on there, ie what their country is like, when they hunt, and who to contact- usually the Secretary. Just pick a pack and give the secretary a ring, we're all friendly!

And don't forget, it was everyone's first day out once!! Hope you have fun. :-)

recommend EFUH - tractor is right, they were really friendly when I first started going. Maybe see you this year then :)

Thankyou so much for your help!
Its been really helpfull, i will have a look at the website and give one of the secretaries a ring :)
Im exited although cacking myself allready

Epping is in Essex country, although we don't meet any closer there than Stanford Rivers and Navestock now. Oh and one inside the M25 but can't remember where as is too far for me!
The Essex are steadier cubbing than the Farmers, IMO, in fact hunting generally. Both are very ince friendly hunts.
