Please can someone list the closest hunts to Andover?

Also I have never been hunting before I have a 14hh new forest pony and think it would be great to do different things with him.

Any advice at all will be gratefully received as I know nothing about hunting and how to get started.

Thanks

It depends on whether you want to jump. The Royal Artillery hunt on Salisbury Plain but don't jump. Tedworth Hunt and Southern Shires Bloodhounds hunt north of Andover. My daughter went out with the Bloodhounds for the first time a couple of weeks ago and really enjoyed it.

Thank you, I didn't know there was a choice to jump or not.

Its good news to hear that they don't jump as don't think we are ready for that yet. I will get in contact with the ones you suggest thank you :)

Hi charno1, we hunt with the Tedworth and also have a 14hh NF. Send me a PM if you decide to try a day. Contact our Secretary, she is very nice!

After asking if you want to jump, I should have mentioned that with the Bloodhounds when my daughter went out with them, there was a choice of going with a group who wanted to jump or a group who didn't.

Regarding what do to etc, we looked on the Bloodhounds website where there is a lot of helpful info.

Regards jumping, same applies with Tedworth, always someone going around if you don't want to jump, and some days have more jumping than others so you can do as much or as little to suit you and your horse so that it is a fun day out for both of you.
