Took the boy hunting for the first time on Saturday - he is a nervous fizzy ex-racer so I was expecting fireworks but he suprised me and was a total star! Stood calmly with the others, was well mannered when we were travelling at er...speed and popped over ditches and all obstacles like a pro.
The hunt staff were all lovely and very welcoming to a new comer - everyone was chatty and I felt like one of the crowd straight away. It was less stuffy than I remembered (last hunted as a PC brat!) but the old etiquette was kept alive. I got the lay to lure for the first mile to get the hounds moving out of the village and to the first covert - was a real honour.
Am so peased that we've found another activity along with indoor dressage & SJ to keep us going through the winter. Hurrah - roll on next Saturday!
So if any would be hunters are not sure if they'll fit in - try it and I hope you'll be as pleasantly suprised as I was.
