Do you ever have those weeks when you wonder why you bother?

It's yucky wet and raining.

Merlin has lost another tooth - he now doesn't have any pairs of molars at all!

Millie has had to have cortisone injections in her hock - four weeks off so far and two to come.
Unfortunately it's on her 'uninsured' leg so 3x vets visits, x-rays and injections have yet to be paid for.

And has had to have 48 hours in so...

... Cally has had to come in too (so she's not on her own at night.)

So, four boxes to muck out this morning and tomorrow.
It's rained here for hours and the roads and fields are flooding nicely (apologies to HHO-ers in Cumbria, Scotland, Wales etc - I know it's much worse for you, I'm just feeling sorry for myself

)

And I couldn't ride today either.

I have horses why????

Because I love them I expect.

That's it, whinge over - honest!

Yes on days like today I wonder why I bother but the whinneys at 6am and bringing in time make it all worthwhile. Don't like the mucking out on weekdays but do love it when they come in to nice clean beds and look really cosy. Just look forward to the summer, after all it's the longest day just before Christmas.

I know what you mean. Just now, with this weather, it feels like mud, muck and haylage with nothing in between. I was walking the dog through some wet grass to clean her up a bit before putting her in the car and I suddenly had a flashback to summer when horse dragged me over to eat this particular patch of grass having been for a lovely long ride. It seems so long ago now

however I am strangely satisfied knowing she's warm (good rug) and full (haylage) and supremely happy (lots of geldings to adore her!!!).

Ah ha!!

That's cos I don't really have four!

I have my gang - as per my siggy (Merlin-the-toothless is the grey, Millie the bay and Dom the black)

But!!!...

I am partly responsible for Cally - Millie's foal from two years ago. She's orange so fits in well as a change.

45 minutes in the rain??? I whinged for that long whilst dragging them in from the mud! (Where's the bowing in awe smiley when you need it????)

In hindsight the riding in the rain really deserves a 'stupid person' smiley rather than a 'bowing in awe' smiley, goodness knows why I ever thought he was going to work properly

No, you'd have to be psychic to know I was including the orange one!

Her real 'mum' is incapacitated atm so, as she usually lives out with Mills I get the pleasure of looking after her at w/e.
I also play at showing with her and will back her next year.

It's a bit like being an aunt or godmother - I can play with her to my hearts content and give her back once I've had enough.

I thought riding in the rain was good - keeps their heads down and bums tucked under if nothing else.
