ALLERT as a safety procedure

Wash your hands and clothes to avoid cross contamination when visiting other horses

this is a bad one

14 dead even with the anti vaccine in brittany .

thought to be contained in the centre equestre but how many other horses at sales ,loan horses etc havent seen a vet or had lab test

things to look out for deep breathing, lethargy, depression ,sweats

diagnosis via blood sample

21 day quarantine normally

haras national emailing info to anyone who is reg and has horses reg with them

Cheval annonce is suggesting that this outbreak was back in February and was contained in one RC which has now been given the all clear.

Haras hasn't e-mailed me anything!

Sorry for my ignorance but what is the HVE1 virus? Is it bad spelling and you meant to say EHV1 virus (Equine Herpes Virus)?

If you are talking about EHV then according to The Animal Health Trust The most recent case of EHV1 virus in the UK was confirmed on 15th March in a non vaccinated TB mare in Leics on a stud farm. 5 mares have aborted presumably due to EHV1 and 15 more are yet to foal.

The last reported case was in Aude, France from an unvaccinated 5 year old Akhal Teke brood mare on the 16th March.

In all cases the virus was found to be EHV1 - the strain that causes abortion.

Here is a fact sheet about EHV 1 and EHV 4: http://blogs.usask.ca/EHRF/EHV fact sheet-1.MAR.20.pdf

Here is info from AHT about the latest outbreaks: http://www.aht.org.uk/icc/linksicc.html
