The bulldog/CKCS thread got me thinking.

People are breeding dogs who share the same genetic diseases, for example PRA in cockers and poodles, hips dysplasia in labs and poodles.

How many people when they buy a hybrid pup ask what the dam and sire have been tested for?

Some years back I cam across a website for a breeder of labradoodles. Their dogs were expensive but justly so. All dogs were fully health checked and all the pups assessed for their type of coat and the amount of dander produced. They tried very hard to match the pups to the owners requirements and I thought what a shame it was that all breeders weren't as conscientious.

The pure poodles used for Oodle crosses are often health tested, but a lot of people aren't breeding F1s anyway, so generations move further away from those health tests.
