Has anyone ever had their ramp made hydraulic?
if so, roughly how much was it?
were you happy with it?
would you say it was worth it?
which company did you have do it?
and what type did you go for? (as from looking at them, it seems they can be powered in different ways etc.)

i am having a new ramp on my horsebox and am wondering if its worth having a hydraulic on as i have 'ramp issues' as the 1st time i open the ramp on my old horsebox... i slipped and got knocked out! *in my defence.... i had waited months for the box to be finished and delivered - so who can blame me for wanting to play with it straight away :-)

Do you mean an electrically driven one? I'm looking to buy a horsebox that has one of these fitted and the one thing that everyone who advised me was that it should have an override of some sort so that if the electrics broke on it that the horse could still get out (that it can be opened without electric). Or do you just mean a dampner (ie not just springs?)

havent a clue about a dampner???

I mean a full on electric ramp.
I knew of someone who once had one and they didnt realise you could override them and once thought their horsey was stuck in the box. It took them about an hour to realise they could still open it up.

I've had one in the past - probably wouldn't go for one again. I had several problems with it, it would stop just before the ramp finally closed and it was really difficult to then give it a push to close it (you needed a bit of momentum!). It did have a manual over-ride but I never needed to use it.
