Pony is an 11.2 welsh a gelding and 4 in May. He is quite sensitive round his head to anything that buzzes and flies.
The symptoms are a head tick - head is jerked in towards chest ocassionally and sometimes combined with one foreleg being thrown forwards. No rose rubbing, no upwards head movement. Shows this mainly on a nice day with flies and sun, but also does this when trying to clip and also at 5am in the dark on a frosty morning when being long reined and lunged. I changed his bit and this helped a lot.
Any ideas? I am sincerely hoping that this is a youngster thing and he will grow out of it at some point. He is very obviously ultra sensitive round the head to things that irritate him ie badly fitting or incorrect bitting/tack, also clipping. Very worried though that this is the start of head shaking.
