Can the sugar content of the grass cause him to get all hyped up like a kiddie who's had too many blue smarties??

He's normally so chilled

Have had one episode like this before about 3 months ago and it went as quickly as it appeared and last night he seemed very well in himself, but just a bit 'hyperactive' - everything he did had to be done fast, eating his hay, licking his lick, playing with his stable ball - walked him in hand for 30 mins and he wanted to trott everywhere! (normally have to drag him round!) Ears forward, almost over interested in everything that was going on ........... including yard cat who was apparently soooo interesting she nearly got sniffed up his nostrils !!!

He was still fretting when I left last night like he was full of adrenaline and I worried all night

- spoken to yard this morning and said he seemed fine, had his brekkie and was eager to be turned out but thats pretty normal. Now in field fine although probably grumpy as has muzzle on!!!

Why?

Could be the sugar.... or apparently spring grass can be lower in magnesium, so they get a temporary magnesium deficiaency, which can send them a bit doolally....

So if he doesnt chill out if his grass intake is reduced, it might be worth trying a magnesium based calmer on a temporary basis until the spring grass has sprung?!

Know what you mean tho... My boy was like that when he ate a whole lickit in one night!!!
