Hi, hopefully this is in the right place!

Been watching the olympic showjumping and one of the canadian squad has been disqualified for hypersensitivity? So what is it? how does it occur - is it naturally occuring from stress on the body or is it due to bad practice?

Cheers :)

acid, or such type substances put un boots/bandages horse hits a pole it gets sharp pain.. normally sting or burning

or simply a reaction to any sort of pain. In this case, no malpractice is suspected but the horse has a hypersensitive patch on one foreleg, therefore not allowed to continue under welfare ground rulings.

No not always. In this instance the horse has a scratch noted on the particular leg. OP imagine if you bang your leg or got a scratch. To the naked eye the surrounding area looks fine but it could show up hypersensitive on a thermal image due to mild inflammation of the area. You could be absolutely fine, not feel sore but it would show up. That is what has apparently happened in this case. The stewards would not even allow the horse to be trotted up to prove soundness....it is immediate disqualification.
