Hi does anyone tow a trailer and one horse with a Hyundai 2.2 Santa Fe 4x4, we have an opportunity to purchase one and it will be used for towing the manufacturer says it can tow up to 2.5 tonnes. I dont know anyone who has one for this purpose so any comments would be appreciated!

This is what I have and it's great. I tow an Ifor 505 and one 15.2 welshie and have never had any problems. Nice thing is that you can choose whether to be in 4wd or not so it's cheaper to run than a permanent 4wd. And even the basic model has loads of gadgets! I do know that I would be overweight if I towed two horses, but if you are going to stick with one it's a good choice. Enjoy!

My friends tows with hers and loves it - it is anolder model though and she only really tows ponies. However, i think it is capable of towing more though and with Hyundai you do get a lot of gadgets for your money and the 5 year warranty.

this link may help (just put vehicle model in brand bit and scroll down) - there is a model that tows 2300kgs but that's the automatic one. the next down tows 2200.

I had one until the end of November when I skidded on ice and went nose first down into a ditch. It's taken from then until last Friday for the engineers to decide it's a write off - purely because they can see the damage (eventually) to the front underneath of the car, but because the car is so well protected underneath, for them to see if there is damage further along the car, then they have to take out the engine and the transmission which to their minds wouldn't be cost effective so they've written it off.

The garages have all told me that they are awful to work on because everything is hidden. I must admit, the services I had done on them were the most expensive I've ever had to pay out on any vehicle.

To be honest, it's been (or had been) a brilliant car - and I tow a catering trailer daily with it - which is heavier than towing the horses, but would never now have another one.

But as others have said, lots of gadgets and hiding places all over the car and lovely to drive too.
