I have been reading experimental studies on sarcoid treatments because my life is that exciting, and I have come across one which purports to have 87% success rate across all types with a 7% recurrence rate. Sounds positive right?!

However, it’s licensed only for humans and to obtain said cream I would have to purchase online a 12 week course and I would have to claim to have warts of a.. sensitive nature… 😂

Now prescription fraud isn’t exactly on my to-do list but I think it’s a damning fact about me that I considered it for a good hour. Selling ones dignity for a potential sarcoid ‘cure’ is a step too far isn’t it…?

(Just to cover my back - firmly said tongue in cheek, no law breaking happening here!)

I would commit prescription fraud in this instance but I wouldn't risk using a product untested on horses. There are so many different types of sarcoids in horses and 'Liverpool cream' is not just one cream, there are several.
If I have msiunderstood the point of the post I do apologise!

screenshot from the study.. I’d have to have a chat with OH before having them posted at the very least! 😂

25 horses, 164 tumours, 90-something tested I think from memory

And in my exciting life, I have today created a spreadsheet analysis the componenets of balancers against the NRC 2007 recommendations. But I do enjoy that sort of thing....And my day was quite exciting, had a fab jump lesson this morning

Would you mind sharing?

I'm not clever enough to manage that but I would like to reap the benefits [of someone else's hard work!]

Ooooo, are you sharing your findings?

I have become confused. I was way ahead in the nutrition game in the 2000s, ringing round manufacturers asking if their minerals were chleated, and bing laughed at 'it would be far too expensive, no one would pay that'.

Now we appear to have Bioplex and various claims that actually ordinary oxides (or whatever) are better because the others have to be broken back down then used. I just can't find the time!

Have you trued speaking to your vet?

My horse has been on arthritis meds licensed for dogs up unto recently, when they licensed for horses and doubled the price and he'll no longer prescribe the dog one.

And various stuff licensed for cows over the years too.

Oh I don’t know that I could face the conversation.. 😂 plus not sure vets can prescribe human medication.

My friend went into the pharmacy for benzyl benzoate too. Asked for the biggest bottle they had. She told me the pharmacist gave her a right odd look. She had no idea what the 'correct' useage was for. I nearly wet myself laughing when I told her. She was aghast-never been back to that particular pharmacy.
Do they use that stuff for acne? Its pongy ?

I did that too 🤭 I looked young for my age so reckon that's why I got away with it 👍 not brave enough now though.

When my dog needed some cancer / pain meds the vet didn’t have them in stock. He gave me a prescription and sent me a few doors down to Boots chemists, they took the veterinary prescription and dispensed the (human) drugs. I had no idea until then that could happen. It is worth speaking to the vet.

Had a prescription for human inhaler for a horse, so it's possible. Also for thrush cream which was used on hot spot on a dog worked great.

I have only looked at a couple. You need the NRC2007 recomendation (I can dig out for you later) then look at your balancer and calculate whether they have they are close to those values for the RDA. Dr David Marlin did a study (members only). I'm happy to do an analysis on what you use but won't be today. If the manufacturer does not supply sufficient info to calculate they are not legally compliant but VLA (or whatever they call trhemselves now) don't have capacity to follow these up. I confess that I don't go as far as cleated etc but it gives a good start. I am very much an amateur!

I flipping well wish someone would do the clinical tests for sarcoids with copper sulphate, because my success rate with that over at least 30 of the damned things in the last 30 years has been 100% no recurrence. (In case you are tempted to try it, it does "burn" them out like Liverpool cream, not for the faint hearted.) Somebody needs to investigate the flour and salt cure too, far too many successes now just to write that off as a coincidence of timing with spontaneous regression.
