I've ridden cobs since I started to learn to ride at 4..I was always the kid that wanted the big horse not the whizzy pony! I spent 4 years 'working' for a riding school from the age of 11 and the only horse I rode was a Clydesdale. My own horses have always been heavy cobs.

BUT I hang my head in shame and admit to fellow heavy lovers.....

I've been and gone and bought a ...

Chestnut...

Mare....

TB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:eek::eek::eek:

Okay very very good reasons for such a uncharacteristic purchase, she was due to go to the meat man and I know the couple who trained her and they told me she is the most loving, willing and kind mare out!! Her owner couldn't afford to keep her on livery anymore and just wanted rid the easiest way!! They said they'd hacked her through busy towns and down miles of forest paths!! Her one and only problem is open fields and beaches but with training she was going to be a star PLUS she has some nice breeding and is so very very pretty!! So for the sake of £200 (shared between me and a reckless friend) we've taken her on!!!!

She's now up for loan as neither of us can afford the time for her but she's such a good girl and so pleasant to be around I don't regret the decision for one minute. I don't care if someone else enjoys her company for that little money I couldn't see her die. I've tested her out by walking her in hand down the lanes and she is absolutely 110% bombproof and yes she does explode in fields because we lunged her in one!! Lol!! But it wasn't that dramatic and a younger rider who likes a spark would love that side of her!! I'm happy to hack her but living near beaches and loving nothing better than a fast gallop she's just not suitable as a 2nd hack for me so I'd much rather someone else enjoys her.

Anyway this is According to Jade...Jade to her friends (yeah..I know but what can you do?)

Congrats she is gorgeous. I personally would not want a TB, exceptions being Jade and the most gorgeous one that used to be on our yard. She is a real good buy by the sound of it and if you sort the fields thing you will have an amazing horse for very little money. Well done you for saving her from the meat man.

Lively and whizzy? JUST my type! Shame I already have one or I'd bite your arm off to loan her.

BTW, did she come from East Angular? Sorry, couldn't resist.

We've had interest in her already luckily, but living on a little Island (Anglesey) it makes it a bit difficult cos everyone wants to ride on beaches and she can't cope with that yet!! I want someone who likes fast but also wants a project, she was a P2P racer but only went out twice because apparently she'd buck on landing..so not good for winning!! She's certainly fast on the flat, she went for a gallop over the fields the other day and it was fast!!!

Have to admit handling her is a revalation!! Years of cobs it's been a delight having her walk politely beside me, waiting for her food to be put down, waiting for me to walk through doors..and not been pushed across the yard just because I have a carrot in my pocket!! If I had time to play I'd love to keep her just to pamper and enjoy.

Well done you .....out of interest/nosiness what is her breeding ?

Well it means absolutely nothing to me..but her dam is Accordion who's from Sadlers Wells & Sound of Success and Sire is Pollarosser out of General View and Mesena. I know a couple of people have said she's of nice breeding, if worse comes to the worse and we can't find her a good loan home I will put her in foal to a heavy cob, I've been looking for a youngster to buy for years and can't find what I want so as I know her character is wonderful I'll let her provide one for me! She'll be with us for life come what may so if we can't find her a fun loan home she'll become a happy hacker and one off baby maker.

what a sweet face, I hope she finds someone lovely to take her on :)

(ps, I admit I am not the biggest fan of chestnut mares either, and somehow I seem to have three, lol)

Before we had weehhheeezzzz and yeeeehhhaaa!!! Although have to say we didn't lose her which if it had been my cob I'd have had my hands ripped open!! She just was in high spirits and lunging a race horse in a big field wasn't really the brightest idea we'd had!!

Naked!! Excuse the mud (she's living with 2 cobs and 2 mini's and enjoying the farm life!!) She needs some muscle but has wintered very well and isn't in bad condition.

She looks gorgeous!!

I must say I was a bit taken back when I scrolled down to her first head shot, as she has the same markings as my girlie :)

But, am I the onyl one who thinks she looks bay, not chestnut.....?!?!

Good luck finding her someone who will treat her right, she a lovely little thing.

Must be the photos cos she def chestnut!! Says so on her passport and after picking off the hairs on Sunday after giving her a good groom they were most definately red!!;)

Good for you. Must admit I'm colour blind having owned 3 chestnuts and will never again but other people seem to do OK with them and she does look sweet.

In the 1st pic she looked bright bay - dark mane with that red-brown coat. You can see in the full length pics she's not bay as she's not got black extremities. She is however gorgeous, especially her face. Congrats on savng a real and mannered beaut! I hope you find the right loan home to bring her on like she deserves 80)

She's lovely. Good luck with her.
When i was younger i swore by gypsy vanners, clydies, shires and i used to say 'i'd never have a thoroughbred for my first horse i want a shire!'
Anyway,My first pony was a cob,but she turned out to be a extra ordinary cobalob! we hogged her all out ect she looked great and she was an amazing jumper at only 14hh! I sold her a few years back and at the moment i have a speedy tbxwelsh 13.2, a ex race horse just turned 5 that i re schooled and i'm soon to be looking for a warmblood! I went to the dark side and set up a home there me thinks!
