well my last one was she had to have really good quality hay otherwise she wouldnt eat it, but the boy I have now is the opposite.
I used most of my winter hay up during end of sept/oct/beg Nov as had most of them at home waiting for grass to grow, which it did thankfully. I tend to keep them out as much as possible but with this rain we have had for the last month my big lad has had enough and was looking a little depressed this week, so bought him in tonight and thought would give shetties a rest of it too, went and by 2 bales of really good hay yesterday at £6 a bale and he has hardly touched it, so gave him a few slices of the other hay (not so good paid £3.50 a bale) and he is tucking into it like there is no tomorrow.
Am so glad I only bought 2 bales as was going to get 100 delivered as they ate it no problem last year, so now have to go see if normal supplier has any left (which is unlikely) or search elsewhere.
Maybe this is telling me that I need to order double the amount from normal supplier next year just need to find somewhere to store the rest. But at least my horse has proved he is not a money grabbing feeding machine lol.
