Last night my horse was really naughty in the school - he was bucking and refused to go forwards at all and I had to get off in the end. I lost my temper with him and shouted at him then lunged him before dumping him back out in the field with no cuddle....

....now I feel awful as I have spoken to his previous owners and they said he never used to behave like this. My instructor and my physio both think that it's out of character for him to behave like this and I should get his teeth checked and get a chiro out to look and saddle fitter, then if no results, get the vet. I feel so mean for being mad with him now...I'm a horrible Mum!!

You're not a horrible owner at all, you sound perfectly normal to me! lol

I would see what happens tonight/tomorrow - if he is back to normal, then maybe he was just having an off day? Perhaps something had upset him earlier in the field or something, you can't watch them 24 hours a day, can you?
If there is a repeat performance, then yes, start checking everything over, as it's quite possibly that something may be 'wrong'!

I'm sure he still loves you though & has long since forgotten all about it! xx

aw, big hugs, you're not a horrible mummy at all. I can vouch for how well looked after your two are, they really couldn't want for anything. And he has been being silly recently and when you were assertive and rode him through it he behaved, so it's fair enough that you would get cross with him.

It doesn't sound quite right for him to do all that, but you're not a mean mum at all! He will have forgiven you by the time you get to the yard tonight i bet.

Oh you're not a horrible mum at all, my new horsey was really naughty cantering on one rein yesterday so I ended up pulling him up sharp and giving him a light slap and shout, then I thought his mouth probably still hurts from last week, he probably hasn't settled in yet and he hasn't had his back checked yet (being done this a'noon). So no you are not a bad mum, just normal!
