I am an idiot! Bute question.

My horse has muscle stiffness, and back pain and vet came yesterday and prescribed bute. Two sachets together yesterday then one twice daily for a week. He was fed this morning and I forgot to put first sachet in! Can I give him two again tonight or just class it as a missed dose. What an idiot, poor horse!
 
If you are worried, you can always call the surgery and ask advice (if it's still open).

I am not qualified to give advice, I'm not a vet: I can only give you my opinion, which is that it's not a serious mistake. I think either course of action would be fine and if it was me I'd give the double dose in the evening, or even a swift lunch with the missed dose in it.
 
Having used bute on many horses over my life you can either miss one or give two at the next feed bute is a safe anti inflammatory drug some horses may react to it but i think you would have to be very unlucky for that to happen. As with any painkiller you have to load the dose and then administer regularly for the course. So dont worry.
