Just go slowly. I was like that once, now I'm the most confident I've ever been. Just do what you're happy with and bond with your horse. I spent ages really trusting my mount and only doing what I was happy with and gradually I relaxed and felt able to work my way back up. Try and achieve different riding goals-- it may not even be jumping, but something that makes you feel more confident about your riding after completing it. It helps to trust your horse because it gives you less to fear. I was terrified the pony I used to ride would 'do something', but I learned to trust him and learn that he wouldn't do anything to hurt me.

Only when you're happy should you attempt jumping, it may take a while, but if you rush yourself into it you'll be back to square one.

Also, maybe you could have someone lunge you over small jumps/xpoles/poles? That way you don't really need to worry about where you're going, just about yourself-- it will help you clear them, and hopefully the more you clear the more encouraged you'll feel.

Just don't rush-- theres plenty of time to re gain your confidence. Good Luck

Dont worry previously had same problem! I started with trotting poles, and then raised them. My instructor had these special raisers designed to increase trot elevation in dressage horses but we used it for jumping. You can probably find something a couple of inches high to put them on if you dont have any of these Start walking over them and then trot.

What really helped me was to put up a cross pole, but only use one pole so one side is elevated, and the other is on the floor. Start at the floor side and gradually drift towards to slightly higher side. Make sure that you trust the horse completely, and that you have an instructor or a friend that you trust for moral support!!

Stick with it! Remember you dont have to jump huge again, I only jump about 2 foot now and I used to compete at 4 foot! My aim is to compete at 2'6 on my new boy Ted, but I think even that will take a while!

I really hope you get your confidence back and take it as slowly as you want! Good luck!!

I dont know much about this

But if you keep getting your confidence over trotting poles, then raised trotting poles, then maybe poles with a little tiny jump at the end (horse will prob trot it anway) and just take it slow. Then make the jump bigger when you feel happy
