depends on the judge... The only time I've done dr to music we were the only people using classical music and everyone else was using pop (and it was vile, cheesy rubbish too!). The judge even said it was "just too serious"

eta, I'm clearly no expert! But at local places, I think it's just luck of the draw what they like!

If it's local , it should just depend on whether the music suits your horse and his way of going. Some judges don't like stuff with vocals, but compilations with vocals have been seen more at top levels so its difficult to tell.

Depends on what type of show it is, local or affiliated. Yet, wouldn't see a problem using the song just maybe it would be better without the lyrics?

I've done two local ones and I won both. The first I did it to Love is a Battlefield on my chunky cob and the last I did it to Pocketful of Sunshine on my ISH. I picked these because I was only doing w&t and they both had beats that fitted their trot. Also they had a decent slow section for the free walk. I'd go with what fits your horse best.

i forgot to say that my son has removed the vocals from the song..and my mum has been watching me trot around to severel songs and thought this was the best one...i thought a modern tune would go down well with the judges,,

If Richard Davidson can use pop at a World Cup Qualifier, then you can certainly use it for local dressage competition. :)

Provided the music suits the horses paces and the vocals are either removed or are unobtrusive you should be fine.

however.....

AVOID ABBA LIKE THE PLAGUE. (And probably Queen and Elvis too). If you are in the judges areas during/after a DTM competition all you will hear is pleas of 'no more ABBA!'

There is an album called "Classical Graffiti" by a group who are no longer in existence called "The Planet" - not to be confused wth a rock group called The Planets!
There are a number of tracks on Classical Graffiti which would be good for DTM. It's classical with a rock twist....well worth trying to have a listen to if you get chance.
These are some of their tracks on youtube which I think are quite good

Or another which has a bit more variety

I watched a Grand Prix competition where the rider rode to lady gaga bad romance and was placed top. Difficult to know like everyone else has said its probably the judges preference. Goodluck

Good tune and it will probably make you stand out from the usual classical music chosen by many others...as long as you don't have a disco ball spinning and multi coloured lights flashing, i'm sure the judges will appreciate the change of tempo :)

I did some dressage to music years ago on my pony and we did it all to disney songs (cruella devil, jungle book, lady and the tramp ect) Judges really enjoyed it
