I am feeling so happy with my horse tonight and wanted to share!!
My horse had always in the past hacked out alone without any questions, even dealing with tractors, motorbikes, people driving like maniacs down country lanes at all with no issues.
However, 2 years ago whilst hacking him out whilst still on part box rest recovering from a tendon/ligament injury, he threw me off badly.
I completely lost my nerve with him but in combination of moving to a new fab yard, I have managed to cure my nerves hacking out in company with no problems. However, he has been really terrible hacking out alone.
I have spent the last week taking him down the lanes on his own, building up his confidence (in me) and me trying really hard to relax and not stress out myself, and tonight we had a great hack just the 2 of us like it used to be.
He didnt bat an eyelid at the helium balloon swaying in the wind just behind the hedge and got round past the 'scary horse eating white cottage' that I normally have a bit of a battle with!.
I just wanted to share how happy I was with him tonight - I feel that I have really turned a corner with him with my nerves ( i never felt scared or nervous on him before my fall) and I loved every minute of my hack out with him tonight!
I just feel now that I can go and do anything with him now as I have managed slowly and surely to get my confidence back and he can now feel that, (as I think my nerves were a big contributing factor to his issues hacking alone.....)
Sorry if this was a ramble and a pointless post but I just wanted to share my happiness on a monday night!!
