After all our attempts my mare did not take in foal this year. She is going to come back into work till the spring, she is wasted in the field!

What to with her though? Could loan her to a friend till april, loan her to my college (not sure shes suitable though as a difficult ride), just use her to mess around with myself or compete (dont see the point in reg bsja again for only a few months).


Dilemma and feeling quite down and skint with a poor result :(
 
Obviously I don't know your circs but it sounds as though you're at an equestrian college so, presumably, not earning a lot at this time?

I'd be happy no to be a LOT more skint with a foal and enjoy your horse for messing around. You'll do enough on the 'serious' side of equestrianism through work/college... have fun in between :-)
 
She showjumped with me to 1.10, ive had her from a 3 year old! Yes I go to college but now keep my horses at home as I have my own set up. I planned on her being out and in foal over the winter and have horses coming for schooling that would be in her stable. So now I have one stable free for clients and my mare will be in and be in work. Someone at uni wanted her to enjoy until she returns to stud but now doesnt seem keen (she is a difficult mare). I wouldnt be happy to send her to anyone strange as she has her quirks. I would have been fine with college as they know her well and how far you can push her and I can keep an eye on her.

She takes alot of work to compete as is far from a machine and takes alot of hard work to get to the point she will jump round, despite being ultra talented.

She will sort of hack with me but wouldnt trust her with anyone else! So she leaves me in a pickle.

She is not my only horse either and I am none stop without having her to work too!
 
Also money for the foal is no issue. Its more about my mares job/time/space available with schooling liveries coming in. I should have stated that she will not work from a field, she only works undersaddle when kept in. She turns feral in a field
