When I got the Current Appy she was very odd about trees and bushes  Obviosly anything that riustled was a monster :D She came from an are which was very much moorland. We are pretty high up, but there are bushes and even trees on some of our hacks,
On Sunday we went down to the next village for a fancy dress ride (St Trinians  ) On the way there we passed trees, BUT with SHOT falling through them! None of the horses were bothered by the bangs, but none of them were keen on the little bits of lead falling through the keaves on to the road infront of them.
So yesterday took the mare out on her own and we are back to trees and bushes being a worry for her! Cue half passing up the road to try and keep an eye on the treacherous things, jogging to get past them and being super spooky about people lurking behind the bleddy things :p
So I am back to trying to persuade her that trees are our friends, that the lions are not hiding in them (I don't think we have many in West Yorkshire) and that cars hurt more than trees!

I am reliably informed (admittedly by a pony) that if you suspect there is a tree /hedge monster you must do a little dance on the spot until you get a smack on the bottom, at which point the tree/hedge monster will realise you are not to be trifled with and will hide dead still until you pass. Apparently....

I sympathise with you!

Ah yes we do the little dance too :D, usually with the less than musical accompaniement of me growling 'get on'! We then have to pass sideways, in case the monster sneaks out when we are not looking! :D
