Last night I get a call from the lady that I bought my mini colt from. She was telling me that she had more mini's for sale becuse she was moving. I remebered her having a Shetland filly for sale at the time I bought Cashew also. She was a yearling and very thin and gangly. I asked about her to see if she ever found her a home and she tells me that she has sold her a friend that was intending on breeding her to a Haflinger!!!!!!!! Could anyone possibly really be that stupid?
I am tempted to say something to them but my instinct tells me to stay out of it.

Oh now that is not right! Mini's cannot possibly be classed the same as ponies or horses and therefore should remain with their own ilk.

I really don't know what you should do. I'm a firm believer of keeping quiet over things like this.....but on the other hand this is potentially a fatal situation they are putting this little lady in. I'm not sure whether you should become involved or not.

Hmmm. I'd be very tempted to say something. HOWEVER, the lady in question no longer has the little mare (does she?) in which case you'd be illustrating the wrong person (unless you could persuade her to talk to the new owner) but honestly, WHAT is she doing breeding horses if she's that clueless???

no...she does not have her anymore . Her neighbor/friend has her now. I found myself beginning to say a few thoughts that were going through my head, but then I shut my mouth quickly. I am supposed to phone her back today because I was supposed to speak to my aunt about the mini's for sale and get back to her on my aunts interest. Would it be way out of line to suggest to her to speak to her friend about the possible danger?

I suppose worst thing that could happen if I open my huge mouth is I offend or upset someone.

Best case scenario is perhaps it stops a very stupid and potentially deadly idea

How could I word it in a very non judgemental way?

I aslo am keeping in mind this is second hand info. It is quite possible that the woman who sold the mini has her info wrong

I do that all the time without meaning to!

Seriously though I would say something, its potentially a horses life at stake here and she should really know better anyway!

Well, if they're offended, they deserve it! No excuse for being so thick! A normal person I think would appreciate the advice.
You could casually ask something like "Did you say so and so was going to breed the mare to her haflinger? [continue with] I thought haflingers were quite tall and stocky (comparatively speaking)... [continue with] ...won't she pop??"
Or something like that
