Thanks to all those who replied to my post in the Stableyard about feeding silage.

Today i went to see a new yard with my sister and two friends, I'll call them K1 and K2. Although it was really nice and had lots of positives (including a super YO) I was worried about the travelling everyday (about 15mins, not a lot I know but it all adds to an already tight schedule

) and the fact that the hacking is not that great. I know we are trully spoilt where we are with the whole of the woods and North York moors to play on though so I was trying not to be too critical.

K1 (my best friend) was really unsure but my sister and K2 decided to definitely go for it while we would have a serious think about it tonight.

Anyway we got home and I decided to see if K1 fancied having a quick run round to a yard only 5 minutes walk from my house to see if they had anything to offer. She wasn't really keen but we went anyway just to rule it out basically.

OMG am I glad that we went. The chap was lovely and really went out of his way to show us round and answer questions even though we could see he was rushed off his feet. He has just built a brand new indoor arena

and has almost totally rebuilt the barns into beautiful stables
tongue.gif
K1 and I would have a whole part of the barn to ourselves
shocked.gif
with two brand spanking new stables in it, automatic water troughs
ooo.gif
and our own electric socket and water tap!!!!! *Breathe Amanda*

Then we also get a lock up container to share, to store our haylage and feed
smile.gif

A fenced part of the field for winter turnout.
15 acres of summer grazing
Direct access to the woods (with NO road riding whatsoever
grin.gif
)
A tea room
And a lock up for saddles and a dry room for rugs which are both to be built very soon!

*Amanda hyperventilates!*

All for £65 a month + £15 for a huge bale of haylage and £1 per bale of straw!

I am SOOOOOOO excited!

Then current YO came to yard and had a right go at sister and me and said we had no right to say people couldn't use silage

(have they minds of their won then?).

So sister and K2 move on Saturday and we go on Tuesday so between us that is 7 horses

He is going to be so gutted!

Sorry it was so long

This probably sounds like a normal yard to you all but the one I am on now has:

40yr old stables (maybe older) that have not been touched since they were built and are literally falling down.
A broken tap
Two seriously broken drains
Sheep fencing all round with totally broken fence posts and barbed wire around the top
crazy.gif
It is covered in pallets and baler twine that we have used to patch it up over the years

shocked.gif

Mouldy haylage
Straw that you have to 'crack' with your fork to get some off it is so mouldy and old!

All for £90 a month!

Just notice the £65 per month - Book me a stable, I'm packing my bags!!!! I pay £120 per month for an outdoor school, crap hacking and a small muddy paddock (year round). Stable and fencing O.K. but now buy my own hay in as my mare coughed on the home grown stuff as was a bit dusty and weedy this year.

The original yard is where Asti was born... and was let out on the roads twice - once by someome who kept their market stall there and "forgot" to shut the gate - cue 7 horses galloping round a housing estate at 11pm... Second was joyriders who drove in the field to burn out a car, spotted the nags and legged it and burnt the car out elsewhere but didn't bother shutting the gate, horses out at 2am, police remarked on a nice friendly orange one who was stood with them eating polos, but they let her go when the others ran back to the field...

Oh and the farmers son left a quad and trailer in the field which had slug pellet boxes on, one open. One horse died, one was very ill, and several had fairly mild colics from it. Asti was one of the mildly ill. Byter nearly didn't make it...

Nice farm GG is getting away from eh?

And the biggest bonus to moving? Closer to us with the ginger monster, brown beast and spawn of satan. How nice!!! We'll be all of 2 miles away

*GM laughs while 'Manda runs away back to the old farm in terror*

Bring it on I say!
grin.gif
We will be able to go out and play!

Ellie and my sisters two ponies were out on the road last winter too (woke a local up clip clopping down the road). They fortunately nibbled a bit of grass and then let themselves back into the field
smirk.gif
However the fence they had got through is STILL broken!
shocked.gif

OMG Slug pellets!

I am so, so, so happy for you!! This is a truly wonderful post to read

. I honestly have a great big smile on my face right now

I know I am a yard owner and I shouldn't feel so gleeful......but I just can't help it - serves the moody old beggar right!! He should learn how to treat his customers.

I have to say I really am sniggering over him losing 7 horses all in one shoot!!
grin.gif

I is dreadful isn't it? NOT!

He was appalling to my sister tonight and has told my friend that it is all that Mrs L's fault she has caused trouble since the day she arrived!!!
shocked.gif
Can't believe the cheek of the man!

I am so green with envy over the riding you lot up there have let alone finding a fantastic yard like that too! Lucky people, hope you enjoy it as much as you sound you will. (You sound fit to burst!

mg:

We pay £90 a month + feed and shavings, and the barn is draughty and cold, the yard is dangerous (loose corrigated metal sheets and farm equipment left around), and all the fencing is collapsing! Also, there's about 25 horses over all, so the arena is never free. Hehe, you're so lucky!!!!!!

She's not though, she gets us as much closer neighbours as well as having to teach the witch and her coven.... sorry, my mum and her cronies that is.

Poor 'Manda deserves some better luck!!! Especially as a quick walk and we could leave a hairy spotty 4 legged evil present in her stable..... mwahahahahahaha!!!!

oooh yes please!
grin.gif

Actually my bubble has been burst a little today as friend has decided NOT to move. I am really gutted about it as I wanted us to stay together. However I will not pay that dreadful man anymore of my hard earned money so I am afraid she will have to stay on her own
