After reply on a post the other day that mine has never given me any trouble, today it failed its MOT in a big way!!!

Now have to decided if it is even worth paying to get everything fixed to get it through the MOT or just selling it as a failure.

Que arguments with the OH over us having to have a vehicle that can tow because of my hobby..... aarrrhhhhhh But it was ok when he sold his car because he wanted a motorbike, but still uses my car when he wants to play golf!!! Men!

Rant over - thanks for listening

Ah well thats mixed press then, i thought the BMW ones were meant to be the best of a bad lot!! Only confirms I won't be getting either when I'm in the market!!

I dont know how people with freelanders and discos get on for boot space! I looked at both and was not happy so i bought a Jeep and its got a big boot, tows like a dream and I LOVE IT!!

I think the BMW engine ones are on the whole better than the older type and diesel are cerainly much better than the petrol ones!

I am now just starting the "discussions" about what to get next. The OH wants to get a big car that can also tow....

hate hate hate. mine gave up the ghost last christmas, like 3 days before and i had to do a bit of a panic buy.
I bought mine for 3,600 and sold it for 250. I hated it. Would never have another, regardless of what kind of engine it has.
my panic buy was a subaru impreza and was the best buy ever. it has been amazing in the worst of teh weather we have had. Love it love it love it

I've also heard them called 'three granders' as that's all they're worth!!
My boss had one and the engine blew up when it was only 4 years old - he had to get a whole new engine and land rover wouldn't pay out even though it was a known fault....

I had a TD4 old style 05 plate and it never had any problems. Then i got a new style Freelander 2, TD4 and that was really fab, a joy to drive, very reliable and I loved it in every way. Only sold it to get a Discovery as I needed to tow a 510. I never understand why people are so down on them - although I do believe that the petrol models, especially the 1.8, was a complete disaster and kept having problems. What I do hate however is dealing with my local Landrover dealership - I get hives just thinking about going in there, prices too high, service rubbish.

An independent land rover specalist is the best bet as they are oftern run by landrover nuts for whom its a labour of love and most look a little like hagar the horribble

I hate working on all landrovers they are all a bit of a bucket of bolts'''
Japs Americans and kraut cars are best

however I would think most freelanders are killed by towing with them, they are just a lightweight car type 4X4 and not upto heavy loads
like a proper 4X4

Disco has huge boot - space enough for two children miles away from driver. What more could you want?
