We took both the ponies to a ODE yesterday and they were true superstars. They behaved so well in such hot conditions. Dressage on the orange pony was truly terrible, the worst test by many miles that they have ever done together:) but he went on to jump a lovely show jumping round and go clear cross country (just clocking up a load of time faults because the ground was so hard she was under orders to take him slowly).
On the new pony he was doing his best impression of a giraffe whilst warming up for the dressage but when he got into the arena he softened instantly and proved to be the most enormous show off and they did a quite creditable test. She just finds him a lot harder to hold up together as there is so much more of him so they did knock the boards out at one point. Show jumping he just brushed the planks and it was one of those times they fell so 4 faults. Cross country was fantastic, they had an absolute blast loving every moment and came in 1 second ahead of the optimum time. We have only had the pony for 3 weeks so were delighted.
It was such an emotional day at it was the daughters' last event with the orange pony. Both ponies looked after her so well, I am proud of all three of them.
Champagne and chocolates to any that reads this shamelessly self indulgent post.
