i really am close to the point of giving up.

i am now trying to warm up & dry off after spending an hour chasing the ponies around a ploughed feild.
this it the 5th time this week, 3 rail post & rail plus 2 strand electric on full voltage, the people i rent from are not so happy by the damage being done & as im heaviy pregnant its taking its toll.

i drove home after catchng them this time in tears, i felt physically sick & now have bad pain again, at this moment in time the most i want to do with said crectures is spit roast them.

sorry i just had to vent somewhere before i loose the plot (or snap at the kids)

unfortunatly there is noone close that can help out, land owners have stated it it continues i need to go elsewhere as they will terminate contract.

ive got 2 ponys biggest is 11h1" but as baby is due any day now its really stressing me.

Possibly a silly question, but is the electric fencing working?? None of my horses will go near the electric fence when it is off, never mind when it is turned on.....!!

If it is working, do your ponies have rugs on? Perhaps, if they do, you could take the rugs off so they can feel the fence better when it zapps them.....

Have you considered running a second electric fence on the inside of the current one??

Sorry....I dont have any other ideas!

Are they suitable for children? Perhaps you could loan them for a little while???? Until you have the baby and s/he is slightly older??

Otherwise I have some wood you could use he he :-)

neither are childrens ponys.

both naked & electric is up at full voltage (and hurts like hell as i keep finding out) i have run out of ideas now, the hobbles diddnt work (the boy kept going in them) & she just charges about on teather untill she is knackered (self lunging)

would both make great driving/teens PC ponys in time, he needs a lot more time than her as he has been abused in past & is so nervy its not funny.

my other 2 kids love them dearly but i cant justify them suffering for the ponys.

I don't know if this will help, but my lot didn't respect electric fencing either or post and rail. The only thing that was guaranteed to work was electric tape, but attached to wooden posts rather than stakes. I guess the stakes would come out fairly easily when a horse walked through so they got one shock and they were through, but the posts would hold tight, so the horses got more than one shock and gave up.
I recently wanted to add to their field, so used some stakes. Sure enough they were through by morning.
If you can get someone to help and the owners don't mind, I would definately recommend wooden posts.
P.s. Mine were in the biggest field with the most grass. I think they just liked to prove they could.

I do feel for you. I know the last months of pregnancy are tough and you don't need this stress, let alone the exercise on the ploughed field. Is there a field shelter? Any chance you could shut them in for a week or so whilst you sort out the fencing?

Oh god honey, I am so sorry. When did this all start?

I must admit to being surprised that they are going through post and rail though

Will give you a call

I also really feel or you. This is the last thing you need if close to having a baby. Could the land owners not help even until you have had your baby? Or is there anyone even on here that can help you until you have had your baby? I have a ID mare that seems to not be able to feel electric shocks.
If i lived closer to you i would honestly help. Unfortunately i dont. Hope it gets a bit easier for you

I'm sorry to hear this too.

Just a thought - I'm guessing that the previous owners never mentioned any kind of "escaping" problem, did they? (No, they wouldn't have!). Can you think back to how the place was set up where they came from? Is there any chance you could go back there to see what kind of fencing they had (and whether or not it looked as if it had been subject to regular repair following break-outs)?

Another thought - okay, so they're not rugged - but I'm guessing they are extremely hairy at the moment. Just wondering if by giving them each a bib clip it might help with the electric fence, as there would be less hair to insulate them from the electric.

And fingers crossed for you that you can persuade your landlord to be a little more sympathetic!
XX

SWA did duck under/through wire if you got it wrong, but solid post and rail he was OK with... this all sounds like it started with Pebbles!!

Little devils! You must be at the end of your teather!
My lillte Welsh x SP will test each and every piece of the electric fencing every day (I think she enjoys being shocked!) yet my Fell x wont go near anything resembling leccy fencing, even if the strands are down. Wesh bloody mindedness!!
Would it be worth putting anotherr 1 or 2 strands up? Thats what I did with Seren when she 1st came, so she couldnt do her duck and roll jobby.
Hope you get it sorted, try and relax!

Im so sorry, you dont need this stress this close to having a baby (good luck with littlen btw :) )
Just same as everyone else has said really, we have a cob who doesnt feel the shock/ doesnt listen to them he is a sod and keeps breaking into everyone elses padocks luckly we rent them out so all is good. Your landlords should be more understanding tho.

Anyways one we havent tried cause sounded creul (but was recommened by a man who deals with 100's of fence breaking horses) was to put a metal chain round his neck (whilst we are there) apparently it intensifys the shock and should be enough to keep him away from the fence? /...... is always an option i spose.....

Good luck

Oh poor you! How exactly are they getting out, I am being dim! If there is post and rail and electric too, are they jumping out? Or barging through somehow? I do feel for you xx
