I lost my job a few weeks ago and have been on the look out for another. Seriously don't want to go back into an office but will if I have too. I went for two interviews a couple of weeks ago, One was for an accounts assistant and one was as a private groom. I got offered both jobs and took the private Groom's one. Hooray you may think.

However, the lady who offered me the grooms job said she would be in contact about a start date and all the other finer details, but now refuses to speak to me. I have contacted her several times by phone and text and she just doesn't reply! The provisional start date was given as the 12th Oct. I managed to speak to her on friday morning but she said she was busy and could I call back! I am not going to keep on chasing her.

Why do people do this? I am so annoyed at her rude and inconsiderate behaviour. She took up references which she told me were good when she offered me the job. Now I have missed out on another job because of her and I have got to start me search all over again. I am feeling very down now

Perhaps it was fate and there is something better around the corner.
Imagine if you started, hated it and couldnt get time off to look for something better. No chance I suppose of contacting the other employer what have you got to lose??
 
well, be very glad that you didnt actually start work for this person. if she is treating you like this now, can you imagine what she would be like to work for. i know its annoying, but consider it a lucky escape. x
 
How far away is her place from where you live?

If its not far, I would seriously turn up tomorrow!
If nothing else, she will have to explain herself to you.

Do you have anything in writing or a Saved Text Message?
If so, go straight to The CAB or a local Solicitor (Legal Aid available in certain cases).
Otherwise, take the bull by the horns - and go and confront her - with an independent witness or two in tow.
However, this person could just have had a "family crisis" in the meantime - which may be the reason she has not come back to you. Good luck.
