This morning was warmer and slightly less windy than it has been so I thought I'd take off the babies MW turnouts, wasn't warm enough for no rug though so I replaced them with fleeces (since they don't have lightweights yet).

It has, in the last 10 mins utterly chucked it down with rain

They are gonna be soooooo wet and miserable and I don't finish til 5

My three were looking at me with disgust the other day when we had heavy rains and wind and not a rug in sight

I will admit to laughing at their faces and the little drip of water that came down Figgys face when he looked at me when I asked him if he had a nice day in the field

:S have to say I wouldn't ever leave a horse out in a non waterproof rug when I'm going away, as they are going to be very cold in wet fleece rugs and might well have rubs. I'd be sorting out getting the rugs off them asap

Mine has a L/W on today and its been nothing but sun sun sun and no wind!

Yesterday it was winding and raining and he was naked!!

I have the opposite problem - lovely day here, not much wind, some sun, totally dry. Can't catch horse to take her lightweight off. Oh well, she'll just have to get hot and bothered lol.

This time of year is a nightmare - I don't know what to put on my daughter's pony. He needs something on because he's sensitive to fly bites. He wears a L/W turnout at night and the last few days has had it on all day too. Sometimes I take it off in the morning and put on his fly sheet - but I got caught out the other day when it was sunny and blue sky at 7am when I changed his rugs, but by the time I was at work it had clouded over, done cold and was raining - he was so not impressed when I got him in later - his ears were cold!

It's difficult to know what to do at the moment.

Am kicking myself really cos normally I'd leave the MW on (we're right on the coast and the wind is v. cold) but it was so sunny they were just too hot under them

Am going to try and sneak home early to sort them out - will be a night in to dry off properly I think......

All the fuss about rugs, mines out naked whatever the weather from Feb until October otherwise she will take the rug off herself or tear it to bits (as I've painfully learnt).
I couldn't care less if it's raining heavily lol, she's tough enough to cope

Also she currently has two rugs to her name and that is it until winter.

I have been using my Derby House Tego fly rug (horsey suffers from mild SI so can't leave him naked)

Was very worried the first time it chucked down with rain but he was dry under it & rug was dry again an minutes

LOL I normally would have them naked but one is a v. poor yearling who needs all the help he can get and a cold north sea wind ripping the condition off him isn't that helpful. When it's v. windy sea spray lands in our fields!
