I still feel bad because I lost my temper with George yesterday

we were riding in the school last night and someone was trespassing on the adjoining farmers field on a quad bike

It came out of nowhere and when it came round the corner by the school it quite literally scared the sh*t out of George

I rode him up to the other end, patted him and let him stand until he stopped shaking.

We then tried to continue but George was having none of it and was acting like a complete eejit, so I ended up shouting at him

and then at one point I asked him to stand and he wouldn't so he got asked to stand again with far too much hand on my part

I got off in the end, and we did manage to finish off with him walking round the school quietly both ways quietly, he did get rewarded and patted for this good behaviour.

I feel really awful for shouting and jabbing him in the mouth

what a dreadful Mummy

Your not a bad mummy, because afterwards you realised in your own mind that it was something that you wouldnt normally do or find acceptable.

The bad mummy's are the ones that do this on a regular basis and don't even think twice or give too hoots about how they ride or treat their horses.

Now stop worrying.

I have said some unspeakable things to Monty before

Most notably when he broke lose while eating and ran over and kicked the crap out of my car. The front of the bonnet is permanently mangled!!!

We all lose our tempers......we're only human. But as Kenzo said, the fact that you feel bad means you are a great mummy rather than those who constantly shout at their horses and don't care.

You are George are a super team!

I'm so glad to hear other people do this too, I can be quite short tempered but try my hardest not to take it out on other people or horses but my mare can be so stroppy sometimes she gets the better of me. I have OH on the lookout for me getting angry if she misbehaves and he teels me off before I can start, which I really appreciate cos it ruins the whole day when something like that happens. At least we learn from our mistakes and try to prevent tham happening again

If that makes you a bad mummy, I need reporting! My horse has, on occasion, refused to go past certain points out hacking, and normally he gets no sympathy- just a kick and a growl. If he refuses to stand he gets made to- sounds cruel, but if a car is coming towards me and he refuses to stand, we could be in deep sh!t. Despite my cruelty, he is a cheerful, loved old man and we're very happy together.
