.....but at least my nastiness benefits my chequebook!

Poor Ellie has just gone 10 weeks since she was last shod - again - and even my farrier couldnt believe it!

It's become a bit of a routine joke with us now - "See you in six months time" and all that. I guess I'm damn lucky I don't have a TB!

And you'd never think I used to be a farrier's daughter, would you!

I know, I know! *shields face*

What did amuse me was that farrier said most horses at the moment are going 1-2 weeks less than they 'normally' would - yet Ellie has gone two weeks over, and her feet honestly did not look that bad! He has warned me that she may float in the air when I ride her next, though....

Shocking!

How do you get away with it though?

Seriously? Does your horse not need shoeing before then

If I'm honest, she should have been done two weeks ago, but she is generally very good with her feet and will normally comfortably go longer than most horses I know. And on farrier's advice, I have just booked in for 8 weeks time, so I'm not telling porkies!

I'm really lucky. As agreed with farrier mine gets shod every 8 weeks!! oh well, I have more money every other month for wine!!!

Well i'm even luckier ..........Maric my newfie goes 11/12weeks and they still look brand new .... and i'm not a horse neglecter he used to be booked in for every 8 weeks and the farrier would refuse to do them

He no longer wears shoes now as he does limited work

Saying that Sol goes 8 weeks woo

Bloody hell your lucky, we do 4! Althought its the nature of our work, 95% of which is on gravel or roads! 4 weeks and thier shoes are like razor blades! So thin we can't even sell them to the public for fear of kids cutting themselves and sueing us!

Blooming heck you're lucky! Ronnie has barely made it to 4 weeks this time! But his hooves do grow at an alarming rate. Probably all the cornucrescine I rub in

Mine will go 7 to 8 weeks and then its because his feet are long and not that he's worn his shoes and we do a lot of roadwork, one of are others is done every 4 weeks.

Well at least your farrier turns up - used to book mine in for every 8 weeks and then poor horsey would have to go another 2 while we tried to catch up with him (and yup, I tried booking him at 6 week intervals but it made no difference)... AND she was a tb!!! He must have been alright though as the shoes stayed on damned well, and bizarrely on the odd occasion she lost one he'd be there next day???

how on earth do you do it? mines 5 weeks on wednesday and her feet look ridiculously long already.

you lucky thing, mine lasts only for 4 weeks. Used to leave him for 6 but everytime he lost at least one shoe!

That cornucrescine is fantastic stuff, but it really makes the hooves grow, my boys have to be done monthly because their feet grow sooooo fast - and its great for my nails!
