I had a viewing for my horse today.

Described in advert as still unbroken so will test limits. Therefore needs a confident handler so he doesn't take advantage. Known to bronc while putting saddle on but sweet as anything at all other times and fine to untack.

My idiot horse bronced while being tacked up, as I said, he then proceeded to Bronc while being untacked. Potential sharer asked if that was normal followed by me saying no "he's never done that before!"

Don't know yet. She's going to think about it and call back.

In fairness to her she wasnt put off. Stood her ground then proceeded to rug him again! (before anyone gets on my case, I know! it's a rain sheet to protect from the thunderstorms!)

Presumably his back and saddle has been checked? A horse "broncing" when introduced to his tack doesn't sound right to me?

Yep everything's been check, back, saddle, teeth. You name it, it's been done several times.

He's been broken badly before in Ill fitting tack. He doesn't do it with me or anyone he knows he can't get away with it with and he never does it once it's on and you're working him.

I think it's just his way of testing boundaries, especially with his history. But yes, he has had everything checked about 5 times!

Yup, I've been there as well! Selling my total saint of a horse last summer, thought that he'd be a really easy sale, but no, first people came to see him, and lo and behold he just plodded round the school like a beach donkey and refused to trot for them! 'I promise he does know how to trot, look, I have photos!' Didn't quite cut it!

A couple of years ago when I sent my jumper mare away for training I became one of those owners too. I bred her and have always been here around. She is also my pride and joy. So of course I went over to settle her in.

She got into the stable and proceeded to start weaving back and forth at rapid speed! I was gobsmacked!!!! Had her all her life and she had NEVER shown that behaviour! She stopped in 2 mins but I too uttered those words, " she's never done that before". They were like, yeah right!

I also told them she was 100% under saddle and wouldn't put a foot wrong. After the weaving incident I'm sure they thought I was talking out my arse. Thankfully she didn't let me down there.

So while I always maintain people are full of crap when they utter those words, it did make me think a little.
