As title really. And it's not until the beginning of November (on my birthday, bonfire night) but I am so excited to have decided to do something definite about it. I am having a block of lessons in the week leading up to it so had better start saving the pennies!

Someone tell me its super easy please. I am also a bit nervous!

Good Luck - i did mine last year! Took me two attempts but i only failed first time because i didn't use a bus lane when it was not in operating hours which i think is a silly reason to fail someone!! :p

How is that a fail? Surely you don't HAVE to use it, just you can if you want. Blimey. I'll remember that one then!

Well thats what i thought - test person said it would be like sitting in the fast lane of a dual carriage way holding up traffic. My point was i was doing 30 in a 30 zone so legally no one could have overtaken me anyway. He failed me all the same!

Right. Blooming driving test people are wallies thought aren't they? Do they score you like they do for a normal test, up to 15 minors, no majors type thing or is it different? Sounds like it must be different if you fail for doing 30 in a 30!

I think they are more picky tbh. As far as i can remember its the same format regarding minors, but the driving part of the test is longer 45mins on the road i think. You do the reversing and braking exercises before you go out on the road and then when you come back you have to un-hitch the trailer and hitch it back up.

It's honestly not that bad - just takes a while to get back into the mode of 'test' driving, i've had my license 3yrs and already picked up loads of bad habits!

I put this test off for 12 1/2 years!!!! hahaha (oldy me!!) as I was so afraid of doing another driving test!! So I had all of 12 1/2 years of bad driving habits too!! Needless to say I passed first time with only 2 minors!! So you'll fly it am sure, good luck xx

I did mine in the spring.

The manouvering and theory part are dead easy with a bit of practise. It's the correct driving that's hard! After even a couple of years of driving you pick up SOOOO many bad habits.

I would highly recommend going and having a normal driving lesson first. A lot of people fail their tailer test due to bad habits and a £20 normal driving lesson is well worth the money - the extra hour spend driving 'correctly' are really helpful.

The idea of a normal driving lesson sounds brilliant. I'd have never thought of that!

I think I'm having about 16 hours of towing so hopefully that'll be enough to hammer out most of my bad habits :S

I've been driving four years now so I'm sure I've got plenty! Coasting round corners with my foot on the clutch mostly. Although I did that in my original test and passed with three minors. *prays fervently trailer examiner is as unobservant as last examiner*

16hours really isn't very much practise to stop all those habits you've picked up and now do subconciously. I got wrist slap for: Coasting (Lots;)) Not using the hand break enough. Not using the mirrors in the correct order (it's very specific). Resting hand on the gear stick. Crossing my hands. Letting the wheel slide round corners (a very ingrained bad habit!). Speeding (even by 1mph!). Not deleberatly and obviously making a point of looking at signs. And a variety of other minor things.

I had a VERY depressing first lesson - I'm a competant, experienced and confident driver but I felt like a total failure who just couldn't drive.:o The instructor spent the whole time saying 'don't, stop it etc'

So I dug out my old driving instructor and got a 'Pass Plus' lesson, which really helped and it all come together on the last drive and I passed with just one minor :D

Well as I've got plenty of time I think I'll probably book myself a lesson or two before my lessons. I do all of those things!
