Farrier came out yesterday. In his opinion, the splints are both cold - although in my paranoid mind I can still feel heat

He did, however, say that Ellie is only the second horse he has ever seen throw a splint on the outside of her leg rather than the inside - and she is the ONLY horse he's ever known to throw both at the same time

He said to start riding gently again on Monday (which the vet had advised anyway - ten days rest). He's coming back out on Thursday to shoe her and attempt to rebalance her in front, so that should help too

He's also bringing a selection of bones with him to show me exactly what it is that Ellie's done - whilst I know I will find it fascinating, I do have a bit of a bone phobia so may have to take some deep breaths....

She's absolutely buzzing at the moment and has still not given any hint of unsoundness, so hopefully it will all be ok

Although to be fair to her, I've never been worried about riding her fresh. My instructor once said to me (when she was at his place for the summer and had been out at grass for 5 weeks) - "dont you want to lunge her before getting on?" He couldnt believe I was happy to get on as she was!!!

Maybe I'm as mad as she is
