Little bit of info:

TB kicked almost 2 months ago, had 1 inch laceration to inside of knee. Obv. had vet who flushed, gave antibiotics etc. - said to dress until dry. All looking good until 2 weeks later - lump appeared then he went 4/5 lame at walk with bandage. Told groom to remove bandage until i could get to yard and after an hour the side of knee jhad burst out and there was swelling on almost entire leg.

After joint tap it was decided he didnt have joint infection, and that he needed xrays and scan to decide what was to be done. These showed chips or similar, and vet tried to operate under sedation and nerve blocks which was too painful so he had GA.

OPeration went well and they found inside was rotten with bad infection and calcified pus - he has recovered well but still has open area where staples popped out when he came round from GA. It had stopped healing further, so he has to go out in paddock with a knee pressage & vaseline on - and overnight it has scabbed over and looks OK!! - Not lame or anything.

Im just soooo scared hes going to get another infection or something. Has anyone had any simiar experiences of this type of operation or wound healing - just its amazing me!!!!

Soz bout massive post!!!

My old mare had something similar, she had a tiny cut in her hock and long long story it got infected she had an operation and the drain they put in her leg did not heal properly when she came home it mushroomed if that makes sense..
After box rest and being brought back into work slowly she was fine!
finger crossed and i am sure things will be ok!
