Im so frustrated!! Today is the 4th day in a row my horse hasnt let me catch him  I don't know what to do! He wants to come in for his dinner but wont let me catch him  He is normally an angel to catch and its the 1st time I have had this problem since I got him last July. Any ideas?

I had this problem with my boy for a short time. He would wind the other boys up in the field and run around for ages. I lobbed buckets and headcollars at him, and before anyone jumps on my case, no he wasn't scared, just naughty.

I just set aside time, lots of it and just kept after him. I just kept walking after him so he was never allowed to settle to eat without me approaching, he just gave up.

He will still now on occasion walk backwards when I want to catch him. I just follow until he gives up. He usually gives in in minutes as he knows I won't go away!

Bl**dy annoying though.

Has he not come in for his dinner for 4 days? isn't he hungry?

Can you 'coral' him, get a lunge rein then you and another person could get him into a corner ... cheeky monkey!

Go to see him when you have plenty of time. Remove all other horses from his field. Take a headcollar with you and a picnic chair. Do not throw either of these at said horse!

Call him as usual then sit in chair and ignore him, if he comes show him the collar but at the first sign of him going backwards - take the chair to the other end of the field and repeat the process.

I've never know any horse that can out wait me! Do this right and he will almost put the collar on himself and beg to be brought in.
