I can't see you!!!!

I keep getting a bit cross with the horse riders in my area that are hacking out in late afternoon with out any flourescent (sp?) or lights, or even light coloured clothing on dark coloured horses! (I want to stop and say something-but I wouldn't!!) 'Normal' un-horsey car drivers will not be as on the lookout as I usually am, and will not be able to slow down quick enough! Is it because flourescent things are unfashionable or something? Strangely enough the main culprits are the the riders from the big livery/competition yards near me. ( I have a foot in both happy-hacking and competition fields btw!!).

I know what you mean daily I see people hacking all dressed in dark clothes and no high viz gear , I know people will look at me and think I go overboard as I only hack on the fields but both my horses and me are wearing as much high viz that is physically possible to wear , but at least I can be seen

I know what you mean, it is the same round us, at my yard they comment that I must be visible from space! Whatever the weather I have hi-viz jacket (or tabbard if too hot for coat), hi-viz quarter sheet, hat band and bridle straps - I don't care if it stops George being hit it's worth it.

Once while drive home from work, it was quite dimpsey, I overtook the car in front. Whilst on the wrong side of the road going at speed I spotted the two riders coming towards me looking terrified and shaking their fists.

I had not seen them at all. If I had been the riders I would have been furious - but if only they had been wearing visible clothing I would never have overtaken in the first place.
