Its my quote of the day, from a fellow livery owner as i was tacking up my horse to ride last week and putting on his high viz sheet and boots.
I was doubley shocked as over coffee literally 5 minutes earlier we had been saying that as drivers how we now realize how horses and riders can be "lost" in shadows etc on the roads.

mmm, was tempted to tell her "red blood will clash more when you get hit by a car"

Some people just astound me!
 
What colour is her horse? If she's that vain she should just buy fancy hi viz in an unusual colour or just buy a black horse like me. Everything goes with black ;) :D
 
No sadly she was 100% serious- she has come out with some classic's in the past!
her horse is chestnut! I will certainly suggest a black horse- would go with her new coat aswell ;-)
 
I ride rose in a yellow hi-vis exercise sheet when needed and can honestly say I don't care if it clashes, in fact I have a bright orange jacket like they wear on the railways, which I wear with said yellow rug on orange horse and I still don't care lol better seen than dead
 
Slightly o/t but i see Robinsons have some reasonably priced high viz jackets- Their own brand ones, Has anyone got one? Just wondered what they are like?
 
McNally- Had one three years their own brand ones. Warm and windproof with a high neck, Mum likes it because its fitted 'oh the fashionista' :rolleyes: but makes it less of a sack. And mine has the zip at the bottom so you can ride without it creeping up. They wash well too.
I wore mine winter before last for five hours a day out hacking keeping horses fit, jumping on and off, doing gates generally abusing it :D the thing that went was the zip because I didnt zip it down before I jumped off and so it jammed but for 4.99 got a new zip from tinters and the seamstress charged 5 pounds to put it on. Make do and mend. :)

Brilliant thats the sort of reply i wanted!!
I like the Rockfish rider ones but cant really afford nearly £100 at the moment. Will give Robinsons a go.

Mine is waterproof but as with all of my jackets, NZ rugs and rucsacks I reproof them with a spray each year or after a couple of washes, don't know if they need it but makes them last longer....humm....make do and mend! :rolleyes:
I'm 22 not 70 honest. :o

I wash the jacket twice a year-ish, I'm a bum I know

On the 'what jacket' subject, I have a luna rider one and I think it's fab! Actually slightly fitted, which being vain I am rather fond of, and has loads of pockets, a drawstring and is nice and bright with lots of reflective strips too. I got mine for about £25 from surrey equestian (as was), some places are lots more expensive. If you are on a super tight budget then the pound shop is a good place to hunt for high viz waistcoats. Proper bright and reflective, super lightweight and fits over anything easily. Well worth the £1!!

Stupid mare! She is lucky to have a horse, does it matter as long as it is safe on the roads? Too stupid for words.

ETA a good place for cheap, good quality, water proof Hi Viz human clothes is B&Q, they are made for builders so built to last! I got Elizabeth a pair of padded trousers and a padded jacket for the same price as an unpadded jacket in the equestrian shops. They have lasted well.

I do wear one of those orange jackets people on the railways wear :D. I am lucky enough to have a train driver for a dad, he has one and I asked could he get me one from work, and even though its 2 sizes too big (all he could get), its so warm as well with lots of large pockets for taking essentials when riding. Plus it makes my legs look like supermodel legs in comparison :D. I couldn't care less what I look like, I dress like a tramp any way, all of my horse clothing has holes in them :p
